Hot-rolled steel is strong and tough and easily machined to produce various parts and assemblies with complicated shapes. It can easily be welded and joined to other metallic structures. Hot-rolled steel also has an oxide film which covers the surface to form natural protection. For this reason it is often used for large electrical boxes, chassis, bridges, road fences, steel pipes, pressurized containers, agricultural and even gardening tools, etc.
Hot-rolled steels include: general low carbon steel, medium carbon steel, structural steel, high strength low alloy steel, automotive structural steel, medium-high carbon steel, etc.
Dimensions of various hot-rolled steel products: thickness of general steel plate 1.20 to 9.50 mm, thickness of crude steel plate 2.00 to 25.00 mm; width 850 to 1860 mm.
